Honest Company Clean Conscious Diapers
Our take
A plant-based diaper with no added fragrance or lotion, OEKO-TEX certified and non-detect for PFAS indicators. Parents love the prints and softness, but leaks and blowouts, especially overnight, are the most common complaint, and it costs more than better-performing diapers.
Consider instead: Hello Bello for better leak protection at a lower price; Pampers Pure for a TCF option.

Common questions
Are Honest diapers non-toxic?
There's no legal definition of "non-toxic" for baby products, so here's what we checked. Certifications: OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 per the retailer listing. Bleaching: Elemental chlorine-free (ECF) pulp, per the brand's own answer on Target and per Mamavation; an older 2018 review listed TCF. Fragrance: No added fragrance or lotion; Mamavation notes citrus extract and chlorophyll in the disclosed ingredients. PFAS screen: Non-detect for organic fluorine in Mamavation's 2023-24 lab test. Recalls: None found in CPSC diaper recalls since 2020. It scores 76 out of 100 on materials and safety, and 65 overall.
Are Honest diapers chlorine-free (TCF)?
Honest Clean Conscious Diapers use elemental chlorine-free (ECF) pulp, per Honest's own answer on Target and per Mamavation. An older 2018 review listed them as TCF. Elemental chlorine-free (ECF) pulp leaves only trace dioxins, while totally chlorine-free (TCF) uses no chlorine at all, so TCF is the stricter claim.
